Prelip Mines in Macedonia – Marble Research (Following Sadbhuja Das through Europe)

When I first heard of pure white marble being available in Greece, Turkey and Macedonia, I was a bit skeptical of Macedonia, as I was born there, and I didn’t believe marble of such high quality could sourced there. I was flabbergasted when I actually reached the mines in Prelip. It took my breathe away, seeing how clean the quality of the marble was. The mines here are on par with the size of the Turkish mines, it was a spectacular view.

As my research continued, I discovered that some of the major mosques in the Middle East – such as the Sheik Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi, and the Cathedral Of Christ the Savior in Moscow – have used Macedonia’s white marble.

This marble has very fine grains, the texture is like snow. The clarity of the white marble that comes out of the mines is unbelievable unless you see it for yourself.

This is the volume of stock already available from the quarry – their production levels are amazing, they are never short of white marble.
