The following is an account by Braja Sevaki Devi Dasi who, with her husband Jahnudvipa, have produced some very important books related to the Mayapur project, including the book being described here, Mayapur, A Spiritual City.
In 2002, my husband Jahnudvipa Das and I were working with Mayapur Project publications, producing the Mayapur Journal, and then the Mayapur Magazine. Ambarisa Prabhu liked the idea of a book that showed the entirety of Mayapur, including its future TOVP, in a small but colorful book that perhaps tourists could buy, or visiting devotees could take home to remind them of Mayapur, a book that showcased each department or area of Mayapur, with a little information. It was entitled “Mayapur: A Spiritual City.”
The book was produced and finalized, but before it was printed, Pancaratna Prabhu mentioned that he had envisioned a similar book: it was the same theme in one sense, that it included all the various departments and areas in ISKCON, but the difference was that he had started to add quotes from Srila Prabhupada about those various departments in Mayapur. Jahnu and I took over that project for him, and expanded it into what became known as “Srila Prabhupada on Mayapur.” It was published in 2004, and again in later years.
We are always being asked where that book is and if it will be reprinted, and so it became a flipbook on the TOVP site, Srila Prabhupada em Mayapur. The current book Mayapur, uma cidade espiritual was found in old files, and we present it here for your pleasure. In the near future we will also be including another wonderful book, “Eighteen Days: Sri Panca-tattva’s Mayapur Lila”, as a flipbook on the TOVP website.
Click the links above to access the flipbooks. They are also shareable, downloadable, bookmarkable and much more. And please visit the TOVP Flipbook Page to see other books currently available.
