About the author

Dr. Thoudam Damodara Singh (Bhaktisvarupa Damodara Swami), was a Gaudiya Vaishnava spiritual leader, scientist, writer and poet. For more than thirty years he was the international director of the Bhaktivedanta Institute which promotes the study of the relationship between science and Vedanta. Bhaktisvarupa Damodara Swami was a pioneer in “advancing the dialogue on synthesis of science and spirituality throughout the world”. He was a co-founder and regional director of United Religions Initiative, a member of Metanexus Institute and founding rector of the University of Bhagavata Culture (2000) in the State of Manipur (India). He authored and edited several books and organized a number of significant conferences and world congresses around the world, where a number of prominent scientists and religious leaders including several Nobel Laureates participated. He was the Editor-in-chief of the Journal of the Bhaktivedanta Institute entitled, Savijnanam: Scientific Exploration for a Spiritual Paradigm.

This book presents a unique vision for the New Millennium. It contains a collection of essays and thoughts on the synthesis of science and religion from some of the most prominent thinkers, eminent scholars, religious leaders and scientists of the world, including four Nobel Laureates.

This book reflects some possible grounds of synthesis of science and religion. It includes papers presented at the main sessions of the Second World Congress for the Synthesis of science and Religion held in Calcutta in January 1997, as a centenary tribute to Srila Prabhupada who was one of the most prominent spiritual and cultural ambassadors of the 20th Century India. In addition, the volume contains articles and messages contributed by many other luminaries of the world.
